Dave Ramsey - the Cars are paid off!

So you may have seen in my blog before you have seen this, which I got to change today:

                                         8/23/11                    1/26/12                   8/19/13            11/15/13

Lindsey Car                     $14,985                    $11,800                   $0!                  $0!

Josh's Car                        $18,250                    $16,300                   $5,000             $0!

Josh's Student loan          $22,000                     $20,800                  $19,282        $19,150

Lindsey's Student Loan   $21,250                     $20,600                  $16,718         $16,200

It is SUPER exciting to have NO MORE CAR PAYMENTS!! After this experience I will never let Josh and I go in to debt for a car, we will pay cash for our cars going forward. We still have 35K in Student loans but the goal is to pay off Josh's (19K) by December 2014.

Who knows how life will change between then and now, we are going to the doctor next month for one final decision from the doctor on having more kids so that may factor in to what we do after we pay off Josh's student loan if I am pregnant. So we shall see but for now I had the whole family do a happy dance this morning as it is so nice to have less bills every month and be able to make large dents in the student loan department now. Anyway......that's all that is new in that department as we go in to the second to last game of the football season against Wofford tomorrow.

Ready for this season to be over! lol

We will be going to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. We were just there last weekend for the App State/GA game

Fun time with family and friends!

A funny thing Jake said recently: his friend was telling him his/her parents fight and jake's response was "With Swords?" lol   He/she said no, yelling. Sad but funny at the same time.

2 other funny things Jake has said:

While eating ABC's 123's he said "Mom, the people who made these DO NOT know how to write in D'nealian"

He also told me randomly last night that when he had to dress up as Firefighter Fred at school all the girls crowded around him and told him how cute he was lol

Jake is doing well at school. At the first parent/teacher conference Mrs. Crump said he was a very active boy who like to make noises as we worked and play in his desk although he is not a disruptive child. She said if she could pick children to have in her class he would be one. He really enjoys math and needs to continue to sharpen his reading skills. He loves football and says he wants to be a quarter back. He loves to play with the bigger kids in wrap around care.

Buster went to the vet this morning for shots. He is 3 months old and 8 pounds. The vet said in about 6 monthes that is the biggest he will get which is probley 15 pounds or so.

Halloween 2013

This year for Halloween Jake had to dress up as a Letter Land character for school (Firefighter Fred) and Josh and I luckily were able to participate and decorate our car and hand out some small pieces of candy.

This is sydney (lamplight lucy)
and Jake the morning of Halloween

We are luckily to have lots of kids the same age on our street. They play together a lot and every year one family does a hay ride on Halloween. Above is Sydney, Jake and Lucas who are buds.

The entire group.

A fun Halloween was had by all. Next up the Chattanooga game this afternoon and then off to UGA next week!!

Buster Brown

Just documenting that Buster Brown joined our family yesterday. He is a 6 week old terrier mix. Bailey is 11 years old so we thought it was a good time for Jake to have his own dog to pal around with. One that is more playful as Bailey is not one to play fetch lol. He sleeps a lot right now and loves to cuddle. Like any new puppy he cried at night in his cage but eventually went to sleep for about 3.5 hours and then we did it again at 2am. Just the puppy phase he needs to go through. Bailey as scared the crap out of him a couple of times but we knew that would happen.

Welcome to the family Buster Brown!

Sept 2013 and no front teeth

So we are in week 5 of football season, we are 1 -3 (with one bye week and we play the Citadel today.
The above picture is almost all of the Football staff wives at the Red Onion before the first home game with our new head coaches wife, Beth Satterfield.

This our annual pic of Jake before the first home game. He looks so grown up!

This is my nephew Brooks at about 9 months old. He is standing now at 10 months and on the verge of walking.

This is how he crawls

In the car on the way to Piedmont Park

Jake also lost his other front tooth at the beginning of Oct. So this brings the count up to 4 lost teeth, the 2 bottom ones have come back in but now he has a large gap up top lol.

Jake is doing well in school. He tends to have lots of bouts of pouting lately so we are working on our morning schedule. Sydney, our neighbor, comes over every morning as Josh takes her to school so Josh has had to learn to share with her including toys and his parents time.

Although Jake is doing well academically (we will have the first parent/teacher conference at the end of the month) the 4 week report said he needed to work on listening and following directions so we will continue to work on that.

We are looking to start him in basketball in a couple of months since we made the decision to not put him in soccer as he was transitioning to kindergarten.

He is enjoying wrap around care in the afternoon which is good and the work transition has worked out better than I thought it would so we are just enjoying life right now.

My sister and her husband and son will be visiting in 3 weeks for the GA Southern game and we will be traveling down next weekend for Jake's cousins b-day and then making it back up to Boone for the Samford game.

Today we are going to try to make it to the pumpkin patch, the fire and safety festival and a visit to Hickory to visit Target.

Kindergarten Week

So it finally came. Kindergarten week. I was lucky enough to be able to use a week of vacation to take the time to spend with Jacob this week. His teacher is Ms. Crump and so far he loves it. I was afraid that since he is such a sensitive kid he would have cried but I was the only one who did. LOL.

I hope he continues to love school and do well. I hope that we can teach him to be a nice kid, accept everyone for their differences.

This is Jake with his new haircut. I think it makes him look so much older.

Jake and I took Monday and went on a trip to Deep Gap, NC to Cascade Falls where we saw a big waterfall and had lunch.

The first day pictures.

Love this one!

My big boy at his desk:)

After the first day we went to Di'lishi to have some frozen yogurt to celebrate.

After his first day he said it was hard work writing 2s and 3s. He told my mom on the phone he went and saw the gym where they will have "P.G."? he meant P.E. which was funny telling my mom who use to be a P.E.  teacher before I was born.

I love this age, that we can do so much with each other yet he is still my little boy.
Today and tomorrow I am helping out our friend and neighbor who is also a teacher by taking Sydney to school with Jake since Emily has to be at school at 7:20 for the first week and has to drop off her other daughter at the babysitter.

Josh is off to Montana tonight for the first game of the season. No playoffs this year since we are changing divisions but it will still be a great season, we play GEORGIA on Nov. 9th which I am excited about.

Off to Atlanta this weekend to spend time with the family and my nephew, an early celebration for my sister's birthday since I have to work next weekend.

Dave Ramsey

So Josh and I have been following Dave for the past year and a half trying to pay most, if not all of our debt off except our house.

Its not been easy but I want to keep a record of our progress. I had found something I had written in the back of a journal that I keep for meeting notes at work. I added where we are almost exactly 2 years later (even though we really didn't start until January/February of 2012). Then looking to where we want to be in another year.

                                          8/23/11                    1/26/12                   8/19/13

Lindsey Car                     $14,985                    $11,800                   $0!

Josh's Car                        $18,250                    $16,300                  $5,000

Josh's Student loan          $22,000                     $20,800                  $19,282

Lindsey's Student Loan   $21,250                     $20,600                  $16,718
___________________________________________________________

                                     $76,485                     $69,500                  $41,000

With Jake out of daycare and soon to be 2 cars paid off hopefully we can breeeze through Josh's SL. We paid so much in interest alone (as you can see not much progress has been made thus far since we were paying the cars off first). The debt was even more if you think about it because I bought my car 1/1/2011 at around 20K so we put a lot on it to get it to the point we were at even in August.

I feel like we have made a lot of progress yet we can't stop now. 41K is still a large number. So I hope I can update a year and it really will look like how we have it laid out. Fingers crossed.

i phone dump catching up

So warning. Picture overload. I always have this habit of letting all the pictures sit on my iphone and then having to do a large iphone dump to catch up with life.

Life has been busy and its about to get busier.

My neice Peyton's 3rd birthday party in Rock Hill

We also went over to my brother in laws to watch as they cut down a tree in the back yard.

Little kid table. We have finally gotten to the point that they all can sit by themselves and eat:)

My mom came down to go to the heart doc with me in Winston and she also got to see Jake's end of the summer program at Camp.

Birthday weekend!

Me and my bestie Mandy. Love her. Time with your bestie is food for the soul.

Cousin weekend:)

Small birthday celebration. The big 33 spent with friends.

Some birthday goodies on my b-day from coworkers/friends.

This birthday cake they lied to me and said Jake was hurt to get me to the the other end of the facility Ha!

Roses from Josh

I got a pair of free Drexel Community Fair tickets from a lady who works for me. Jake and I had a blast.

My boys this morning. They wanted to wear their matching shirts to church. :)

We have a big milestone coming up with Jake going to kindergarten in a week! We finally found out his teacher will be Mrs. Crump and we heard she was really good so I am happy.

I hope he makes a lot of new friends and I hope this coming year I can find a job closer to home since Jake has always been with me in Marion. We shall see what God has in store for us.
